Monty Python and the Holy Grail

As many know, this is one of the co-rulers of British comedy, looked up to by many and cherished by masses of fans.  Considered one of the best out of the Monty Python series, it tells the tale of King Arthur and his knights of the round table, with a comedic twist of course.  They go out in search of the hidden Holy Grail and meet many obstacles along the way.  The movie is also split up into 3 different formats, there is the original story, then there is the real world documentary behind it and then there is the getting out of story and going behind the scenes kind of view to it.

Overall this is one weird movie, especially the cartoons; I have a great disliking of the cartoons in the Monty Python movies, a very great disliking.  With that set aside, I would simply state that this movie is an example of comedic brilliance.  Itís just so funny, even if itís stupid.  Thereís so many memorable instances and scenes, and I find something new everytime I watch it.  The look of the film is also good, it has good color in many areas and the angles and art of the camera are used very well.  Not only is that great for a lower budget film but especially for a movie made in the late 1970ís!  This is one of the few movies that I can watch again and again, it is full of tiny add ins that you always find something new each time.  One complaint I do have is how the last 17 or so minutes are very anti-climatic, it sort of draws on.  This though doesnít hurt the movie all that much, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is definitely a movie worth a watch.
